There are a number of processes before the roses arrive at your place. We tried to explain some of these processes in the following pages.
Planting
After about 5 years, the old rose-bushes must be removed, and another variety chosen. Choosing a new variety is a very serious and difficult decision as so much of the business depends on it. You have to explore the market, but you also want to known if the rose produces and grows well. The first roses can be harvested 12 weeks after the planting.
Harvesting
Picking the roses is a precise operation that has to be done every day, also in weekends , during the summer we harvest the roses twice a day. After harvesting we put the roses as soon as possible in the coldstore , in the coldstore it is 2 degrees , at this temperature the opening of the rose stops .
Sorting
Preparing the roses for auction is precision work in which we also take advantage of the technique. The roses are hung in a machine and checked for damage, disease, branch curvature and faults. Following this, the camera classifies them according to the size of their head , cutstage and the thickness and length of the stem. The final result is a guaranteed superproduct.
Treatment of the crop
Weekly we go round to remove or bent the stems with lower quality. We also remove the side shoots on the stems.
