Lake Naivasha
Our nursery borders lake Naivasha, one of the lakes of the ’Great Rift Valley’. The fresh water lake is located in a volcanic area at a altitude of 1850 m above sea level. There are more than 300 different types of birds that live here. The pelican and the osprey, to name a few, are living in this area. Over 400 hippo's are living in the lake, and there is lots of wildlife like giraffes and zebras.
A unique location to cultivate roses and to live.
The Rift
The largest crack in the earth is running straight through Kenya and is known from its volcanoes and lakes.
A few kilometres from our nursery lays the Hell's Gate National Park. This is an active volcanic area which is famous for its geysers. The government built a power plant that converts natural heat (steam) into electricity. A lot of birds breed on these cliffs including the eagle.
Many animals are living in the park like the Thomson gazelle, zebra and the cheetah. More to the south east of The Hell's Gate National Park lays Mount Longonot. This is a 2800 meter high young volcano, and is the ultimate spot for mountain climbing and mountain biking. On the way from Nairobi to our nursery, in Naivasha, you will pass the Rift View Point. From this point you can look a couple hundred meters straight down into the Rift, really a beautiful sight.
